Why Mediation in Lebanon?

What if a country like Lebanon holds a legacy from different cultures, religions,

groups & communities?

Due to diversity, homogeneity is absent in Lebanon. This absence of homogeneity

generates conflicts. Lebanese varied culture is similar to the Lebanese varieties Kitchen.

This variety of the “mezza” appetizers do not permit those sharing it to taste and feast

the main dish. As the Lebanese cuisine, each community has its specificities and due

to that difference in culture, ideas, behavior, etc., these communities did not reach

a common ground of understanding. This is where Mediation plays its full Role…

As it is well known, culture is the group of conscious and unconscious values, beliefs,

habits.

Lebanese are mediators by birth, they have mediation in their genes.

Lebanon was the home of Phoenicians, and through history, Phoenicians use to settle

their commercial conflicts through mediation. They were known by their creativity

and flexibility. Mediation was different at the time but the conflicts were still solved

in an amicable way. 

Our more recent ancestors the ‘cheikhs el soloh’ (شيخ الصلح) which are very similar to the

“Pater familias” use to resolve all kinds of conflicts amongst the people through the basic

forms of reconciliation.

LAMAC, through the mediation tools and techniques, is here to change the culture

of compromise through concession to the culture of reaching a common ground

to get a win – win result.
